New Market Research Documents Dissatisfaction with Patient Satisfaction Scores

Can't get no patient satisfaction? You're not alone.

Although 81 percent of healthcare organizations have programs to improve satisfaction levels of patients and members, almost 85 percent are not satisfied with their patient satisfaction scores on the CMS Hospital Compare site, according to Healthcare Intelligence Network's (HIN) "Improving Patient Experience and Satisfaction" survey conducted in May 2011.

Nearly 40 percent of respondents said the physician has primary responsibility for efforts to improve patient/member satisfaction. Other respondents said the responsibility belonged to the director of patient relations, administrators or the nursing staff.

HIN surveyed 146 health care organizations, and identified areas for improvement, providing details on patient satisfaction surveys, estimating the impact of programs designed to improve patient satisfaction, and much more.
