Healthcare Webinar: The Role of Retail Clinics
in the Healthcare Continuum

Retail clinics — filling an aching gap in healthcare access or diluting the quality of patient care? While the debate over retail clinics continues, hundreds of low-cost, no-wait clinics open their doors each year, with varying degrees of success. During “The Role of Retail Clinics in the Healthcare Continuum: Creating Strategies and Partnerships To Meet Consumers' Demand,” a webinar on February 20, 2008, the Healthcare Intelligence Network (HIN) will present case studies from two healthcare organizations already in the retail clinic space.

February 6, 2008

MANASQUAN, NJ, USA — Many hospitals, health plans and physicians are weighing the implications of retail clinics on their business and patient care. Some health systems are hedging their bets by launching their own clinics, while insurers are including selected retail clinics in their provider networks. “The Role of Retail Clinics in the Healthcare Continuum: Creating Strategies and Partnerships To Meet Consumers' Demand,” a February 20, 2008 webinar, will examine the impact of retail clinics on healthcare providers and payors and present two case study responses to this growing marketplace trend.

  • “New research supported by The Commonwealth Fund found that the United States places last among 19 industrialized countries when it comes to deaths that could have been prevented by access to timely and effective healthcare. While primary care providers are struggling to address this need, the reality is that consumers are also turning to retail clinics, which offer a low-cost, no-wait alternative. These clinics will likely remain part of the healthcare landscape at least until new models of primary care can be developed.”
