Evolution of e-Health Initiatives: Improving
Access to Enhance Outcomes

Manasquan, N.J., USA, September 16, 2005 – e-Health tools—from online physician-patient consults to disease management chat groups to web-based cost calculators—are practically synonymous with healthcare. To help savvy payors and providers stay connected to the e-health phenomenon, the Healthcare Intelligence Network (HIN) is sponsoring “e-Health Initiatives in 2006: Strategies for the Next Generation.” This October 27, 2005 audio conference will look ahead to the strategic direction e-health initiatives will take in 2006. During this 90-minute audio conference, two senior health plan executives will share tactics from their own e-health arsenals, from infrastructure enhancements to new e-product launches. For conference details, please visit the HIN bookstore.

During the audio conference, scheduled for 1:30 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. Eastern time on October 27, 2005, Jeff Allport, senior manager, eHealth initiatives, St. Joseph Health System and Dr. Bruce Taffel, senior medical director of health informatics and chief medical officer at Shared Health, will relate successes from their organizations' e-health initiatives and their planned enhancements for 2006.

Participants will get details on:

  • e-Health strategic developments for 2006;
  • The areas seeing the biggest growth and adoption;
  • What consumers are demanding; and
  • How this plays into the presidential call for electronic medical records (EMRs) within 10 years.

“Using e-technologies—whether it’s the Internet, a portable monitoring device or telemedicine—to improve or enable health and healthcare access is transforming the business of healthcare,” said Melanie Matthews, executive vice president and chief operating officer at HIN. “These initiatives not only empower patients and save lives, but also significantly impact healthcare costs,” she added.

The live audio conference, aimed at CEOs, presidents, CIOs, e-business directors, vice presidents, health plan executives, and strategic planning directors, will be held on October 27, 2005 from 1:30 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. Eastern time. The conference will wrap up with a live question-and-answer period to allow participants to draw upon the speakers’ wealth of expertise. An on-demand rebroadcast of the audio conference will be available beginning October 31, 2005 and a CD-ROM recording with printed transcript will be available in mid-November. For registration information and details on audio conference formats, please visit the HIN bookstore.
