Polishing PQRI 2009 Submissions for Optimal Reimbursements

PQRI
Avoid PQRI submission pitfalls that reduce bonuses — join AAFP's Dr. Bruce Bagley and coding expert Betsy Nicoletti during HIN's third annual PQRI webinar.

February 17, 2009

MANASQUAN, NJ, USA — Almost half of the 14 million quality data codes submitted by providers during the CMS 2007 Physicians Quality Reporting Initiative (PQRI) were invalid because many physicians didn't adhere to quality measure reporting specifications, according to a December 2008 CMS report. To help organizations better prepare for 2009 PQRI participation — and avoid submission errors that could reduce incentive payments — the Healthcare Intelligence Network (HIN) is sponsoring a March 18, 2009 webinar, "Physician Quality Reporting Initiative in 2009: How To Avoid Submission Errors and Improve Reimbursement."

The 90-minute webinar, scheduled for 1:30 p.m. Eastern on March 18, 2009, is also available in on-demand, training DVD and CD-ROM formats. Learn more about polishing PQRI 2009 submissions.

NEWS FACTS:

  • Scheduled Speakers: AAFP Medical Director of Quality Improvement Dr. Bruce Bagley returns to HIN for the third consecutive year. He'll be joined by co-presenter Betsy Nicoletti, consultant, Medical Practice Consulting, LLC.

  • Conference Highlights: The new 2009 PQRI measures; advice and lessons learned from practices participating in PQRI in 2007 and 2008; using registry-based data to submit the measures; increasing physician practice revenue through PQRI; understanding the movement of government and other payors to pay-for-performance (PFP) programs; making the case for participation in PQRI and other PFP programs; and conducting internal office PQRI audits to improve reporting, performance and reimbursement levels.

  • Target Audience: CEOs, CFOs, financial managers, chief medical officers, chief nursing officers, medical directors, quality improvement executives, managed care contracting executives, practice management executives, health plan executives, strategic planning directors, consultants and physician organization leaders.

  • Webinar Formats: 90-minute live webinar on March 18, 2009 includes a 30-minute Q&A; “On-Demand” rebroadcast available March 20, 2009; 90-minute training DVD or CD-ROM with printed transcript available April 8, 2009. Get more information on reducing errors in PQRI 2009 submissions.

QUOTE ATTRIBUTABLE TO MELANIE MATTHEWS, HIN EXECUTIVE VP AND COO:

“While the 2009 PQRI incentive bonus of 2 percent of total allowed charges for Physician Fee Schedule-covered professional services may not be a huge financial incentive, successful participation in PQRI is good practice for future expected mandates from commercial carriers for the reporting of clinical performance measures."
