Nearly Half of Healthcare Organizations to Establish Medical Homes
May 15, 2009 MANASQUAN, NJ, USA — A 2004 report from the Annals of Family Medicine states that if every American had a medical home, healthcare costs would decrease by 5.6 percent, resulting in national savings of $67 billion per year and improved care. According to "Medical Home Models: Improving Care & Reducing Costs in Healthcare," a complimentary downloadable HIN white paper, more than one-third of respondents familiar with the term "medical home" have embraced the model and nearly half plan to implement this model into their healthcare organization this year. The white paper summarizes a new survey in which more than 220 healthcare organizations described the role of the PCMH in their organizations.

And much more! QUOTE ATTRIBUTABLE TO MELANIE MATTHEWS, HIN EXECUTIVE VP AND COO:
"With possible healthcare savings of $67 billion per year, topped with improved quality of care, it's no wonder so many organizations are adopting the patient-centered medical home model or plan to do so soon. The responses summarized in this white paper showcase the growing trend of patient-centered medical home implementation as a means of improving quality of care and reducing healthcare costs for patients."
