Aligning Reimbursement to Reduce Avoidable Hospital Readmissions
December 2, 2009 Webinar
Learn how healthcare organizations can use programs, payments and incentives to influence hospital readmission rates during the December 2, 2009 webinar, "Aligning Reimbursement to Reduce Avoidable Hospital Readmissions."
November 12, 2009
MANASQUAN, NJ, USA —
Aetna's national medical director for Medicare and the Maryland Health Services Cost Review Commission (HSCRC) will share their organizations' current and planned initiatives to reduce avoidable hospital readmissions during "Aligning Reimbursement To Reduce Avoidable Hospital Readmissions," a 60-minute webinar on December 2, 2009 at 1:30 Eastern sponsored by the Healthcare Intelligence Network.
An AHQR report published earlier this year found that in 2006, 4.4 million hospital admissions (both initial admissions and readmissions) costing $30.8 billion could have been avoided. This webinar will examine how healthcare organizations can implement tactics to reduce avoidable hospital readmissions, including the alignment of financial incentives.

"Recent actions by payors as well as the healthcare reform bill passed last week in the House of Representatives support programs that reduce potentially preventable hospital admissions, including realignment of payments to hospitals based on readmission rates. Payors and providers will benefit from the strategies shared by these two organizations that are significantly reducing the number of preventable readmissions."
