New Webinar on Accountable Care Organizations and Patient Care: Meet The Medical Home Neighbors
Latest Session in Medical Home Open House Series
Best practices of Dean Health System's successful accountable care organization that provides a high-value patient-centered care experience will be presented during the July 29, 2009 webinar, "Meet the Medical Home Neighbor: Accountable Care Organizations."
June 23, 2009
MANASQUAN, NJ, USA —
The accountable care organization (ACO) — a network of primary care physicians, one or more hospitals, and subspecialists that provide patient-centered care — is receiving increasing attention as healthcare reform unfolds. Dean Health System President and CEO Dr. Craig Samitt, M.B.A., will describe the recruiting, incentives and performance management best practices behind its successful ACO during "Meet the Medical Home Neighbor: Accountable Care Organizations," a 45-minute webinar on July 29, 2009 at 1:30 Eastern.
This session continues the summer-long Medical Home Open House series, which presents key topics in PCMH implementation — from intgrating primary care and behavioral healthcare into the medical home to negotiating medical home contracts to engaging and educating patients in their new medical homes. Visitors can customize their tour to their organization's needs, choosing one or more sessions in the series.

QUOTE ATTRIBUTABLE TO MELANIE MATTHEWS, HIN EXECUTIVE VP AND COO:

“Accountable care organizations — local health care delivery systems and the physicians who work within and around them — foster the idea of shared accountability for patient care and health outcomes rather than placing this responsibility on a single provider. It's a model of care that is being studied in parallel with the medical home model of care. This month's draft of healthcare reform legislation from the House Ways and Means Committee includes a proposal to establish a six-year pilot program to test different payment incentive models utilizing accountable care organizations."
