E-mail, Health Assessments Top Telehealth Tools for Population Health Management, Survey Finds

2011 Performance Benchmarks in Telehealth & Telemedicine
New market research from the Healthcare Intelligence Network (HIN) has found that 66 percent of healthcare companies use e-mail and health risk assessments (HRAs) in their telehealth efforts.

December 23, 2010

SEA GIRT, NJ, USA — Two-thirds of healthcare companies say e-mail and HRAs are the top telehealth tools available for patients and health plan members, according to new market research from HIN. When comparing clinical and non-clinical applications of telehealth, 55 percent of organizations deploy telephonic advice lines for clinical means and 51 percent use electronic health records (EHRs) for non-clinical, according to HIN's November 2010 Industry Survey on telehealth use.

The survey also found that diabetes and heart failure are the top health targets of telehealth initiatives for 61 percent of healthcare organizations. These findings and others are explored in 2011 Performance Benchmarks in Telehealth & Telemedicine, HIN's new report analyzing trends and metrics on current and planned telehealth and telemedicine initiatives.
