How Do Nurse Educators Benefit Physician Practices?

"The nurse educators go out with the practice's welcome packages, take the physician scorecards out and review them with the practices. They are the single point of contact if the groups have any questions. I have four positions approved for practice transformation coordinators, who will work with the practices to help them transform the practice. Many of our physicians have expressed concern about not knowing how to start. The educators will try and help them to understand their employees. Are they working up to the level of their licensure? How can workflows be adjusted to be more efficient and more effective? The educators give guidance on NCQA recognition, review the financial analytics with them and offer assistance there. The nurse educators will also respond to the clinical questions."

Barbara Haasis presented during The Patient-Centered Medical Home: Lessons from a Statewide Rollout, a 45-minute webinar, during which she shared how Florida Blue transitioned from a pay-for-performance reimbursement program into a medical home model.
