Top 5 Incentive-Based Health Improvement Programs This Week's Challenge: Healthcare companies have grown increasingly creative in their use of economic and benefits-based incentives to drive engagement and participation in health and wellness programs. What We Learned: The third annual Health and Wellness Incentives Use e-survey by the Healthcare Intelligence Network captured the expanding focus, utilization and impact of health and wellness incentives in the healthcare industry, from types of incentives offered to methods for identifying individuals for incentive programs and reasons for providing incentives. According to 156 healthcare organizations who responded to the survey, the top five health improvement programs that will offer incentives are:

  • Smoking cessation: 73.3 percent

  • Weight loss: 60 percent

  • Preventive screening: 53.3 percent

  • Health coaching: 40 percent

  • Completion of Health Risk Assessment: 40 percent
