Quotable: Measuring Outcomes Using HRA Data

"We measure outcomes using follow-up calls that are conducted by our health coaches at three, six and 12 months after a client enrolls in the program. Another way to look at this is to have an individual take an HRA at the beginning of the year and then again after completing a 12-month health-coaching program to see if their HRA score changed."

Health Coach Calls: Payment & Reimbursement

Question: How do you charge for your coaching services? How are you getting reimbursed?

Response: (Danielle Butin) Our nurse practitioners submit claims to us. We pay them per visit, and they submit a bill for telephonic calls. It is a billable fee for service and we use Current Procedural Technology (CPT®) codes that are specific to coaching and counseling. It's not a traditional medical code that we would see in a normal visit. We have an agreed-upon fee that matches the code and it goes through our claim system.
