Sponsored by: CMS' Voluntary Physician Reporting Program: Preparing for the Feedback and 2007 Updates

Physicians who report on quality measures will be eligible for a 1.5 percent incentive payment beginning in July 2007, as a result of legislation just enacted by Congress, this fulfilling industry experts' predictions that CMS' physician voluntary reporting program (PVRP) would shortly be tied to physician reimbursement. Physicians already sharing this data with CMS began receiving feedback on their results this month. To help physicians weigh the benefits of participation, industry thought leaders will examine the expected impact of these incentives, share lessons learned on participating in the PVRP, suggest how to incorporate PVRP results into an overall quality improvement program and look at what else 2007 will bring for PVRP during "CMS' Voluntary Physician Reporting Program: Preparing for the Feedback and 2007 Updates," a January 9, 2007 audio conference.

3.) Changing Lives with Lifestyle Management: Taking the Pulse of Population Health Programs

Abandoning long-standing behaviors that are detrimental to one’s health is no simple feat, but it is necessary for an increasing number of people with life-threatening conditions such as diabetes, heart disease and obesity. This is why healthcare organizations are aiding such undertakings with lifestyle management (LM) programs. These initiatives encompass a broad spectrum of programs that approach issues in individualized ways, and they are run by diverse groups of professionals with varying specialties. Depending on an organization’s goals, what resources should it provide? How should populations be identified? What certifications should members of an LM team possess? This executive summary provides the general character of more than 60 such initiatives, including the differing approaches and techniques in identification, treatment and outcome assessment.

First-time users of CIGNA HealthCare’s Choice Fund consumer-driven healthcare plans are becoming more cost-conscious, but are not sacrificing recommended care to save money, according to the results from a year-long analysis of data about the plans by CIGNA.

Key findings from the analysis show that CIGNA Choice Fund is helping to control costs, the health plan said. Costs for CIGNA Choice Fund health reimbursement accounts (HRAs) and health savings account (HSA) members decreased and were about 16 percent lower than costs for those enrolled in traditional plans, the company said.
