3.) Lifestyle Incentives Rewards Programs Encourage Healthy Lifestyles

Changing healthcare trends, including movement from one-time treatment costs for acute conditions to blank checks for chronic care, challenge employers' ability to safeguard both employee health and financial viability. While dependent upon employee productivity for industrial progress, employers and health plans must maintain a bottom line. According to a 2003 report by the Partnership for Solutions, a research group at Johns Hopkins University, people with chronic conditions account for 88 percent of all prescriptions filled, 72 percent of all physician visits and 76 percent of all inpatient stays. These numbers do not appear to be decreasing.
