White Paper Abstract: The following study summarizes North Fulton's first year post-implementation of HEALTHMATICS EMR. In this year, 1999-2000, the practice established the EMR as part of a growth strategy to reduce overhead and improve production that continues today. Preimplementation the group consisted of four physicians treating 21,000 patients, and a staff ratio of 3.5:1. Since this time, however, they have almost tripled patient volume and they have reduced per patient costs by more than ten percent. The practice anticipates close to 60,000 patients this year and there are eleven providers, including seven physicians, and a 2.8:1 ratio of non-clinical to clinical staff that is well below the national practice average.
